Repatriation from the Comoros to Poland
We organise bringing the deceased from the Comoros to Poland: documents from the country of death, Polish permits and transport of the body or urn.
- Issuing authority and document
- Certificate: the Polish consul confirmed in your case. The export permit comes from the authorities of the country of death.
- Transport
- The body is carried by air as air cargo. We agree the arrival airport and the handover point in Poland with the family.
- Timing
- The starosta and the consul have up to 3 days for their documents (Article 14(5) of the Act on Cemeteries). We give the full timing once the documents from the Comoros are collected.
- Price
- We will quote the price once we know the details.
Procedure: Comoros
Poland is not a party to the 1973 Strasbourg Agreement on the Conveyance of Corpses, so bringing a body from the Comoros always requires the Polish consul's certificate.
Documents from the Comoros are authenticated by legalisation if a Polish office asks for it (the country is not a party to the Hague Convention, HCCH, as of 13 October 2026).
Comoros
On the page of the Polish Embassy in Dar es Salaam, the bilateral relations tab lists Tanzania, Burundi, Comoros and Malawi. We confirm the post responsible for this country in your case. This embassy's list of honorary consulates contains one consulate, in Kigali, so Comoros has no Polish honorary consul.
The order of steps is the same as everywhere: first the starosta's permit in Poland, then the consul's certificate, and only then the transport. There is no Polish honorary consul in the Comoros, so documents probably pass between countries, and we agree this with the embassy from the start so that the family does not lose time. We watch that the death documents are complete, handle contact with the embassy and organise the flight to Poland. We clarify the detailed requirements of this country's authorities on request in your case.
The Polish consul's certificate
The nearest mission linked to this country on gov.pl is the Polish Embassy in Dar es Salaam. We confirm the competent mission in your case.
How to get them: the starosta's permit and the consul's certificate.
