Repatriation from Chad to Poland
We organise bringing the deceased from Chad to Poland: documents from the country of death, Polish permits and transport of the body or urn.

- Certificate: the Polish consul confirmed in your case. The export permit comes from the authorities of the country of death.

- The body is carried by air as air cargo. We agree the arrival airport and the handover point in Poland with the family.

- The starosta and the consul have up to 3 days for their documents (Article 14(5) of the Act on Cemeteries). We give the full timing once the documents from Chad are collected.

Procedure: Chad
Poland is not a party to the 1973 Strasbourg Agreement on the Conveyance of Corpses, so bringing a body from Chad always requires the Polish consul's certificate.
Documents from Chad are authenticated by legalisation if a Polish office asks for it (the country is not a party to the Hague Convention, HCCH, as of 13 October 2026).
Chad: handled from Algiers
Chad comes under the Polish Embassy in Algiers, which covers Algeria, Chad and Niger. On that embassy's travel information page Chad has a separate country profile. There is no Polish consul in Chad, so the certificate for bringing remains or ashes home is arranged from another country, and documents have to be sent across a border.
For that reason we organise from the start a complete set of papers from the place of death and the way to pass them to Algiers. The Algiers embassy's page describes its own procedure, so whether the requirements and the fee are the same for Chad we confirm in your case. We confirm in your case the Chadian office that registers the death and permits removal of remains. We keep contact with the embassy and organise transport to Poland, so that the family does not have to join these stages together alone.
