Do you need to travel abroad?
How long does it take to transport a body?
Will the insurance cover the costs?
Is the consultation a paid service?
What should I do first?
If the death did not happen in a hospital, call the emergency services. In EU countries the number is 112. A doctor will officially confirm the death. Then call us on +380 77 882 77 77. We will tell you what to say to the hospital or the police, and how to inform the Ukrainian consulate. If there was an insurance policy, tell us about it. Step by step, see the page What to do if a loved one dies abroad.
What do you take care of?
The whole way: contact with the hospital, the morgue and local offices, documents in the country of death, the apostille and translations, consular certificates, preparing the body, a coffin that meets the transport rules, the route, the border and customs. The family only needs to give us a few documents and a power of attorney.
Do you work at night and at weekends?
Yes, 24/7, with no days off. Call +380 77 882 77 77 or write to us on Viber, WhatsApp or Telegram at the same number.
Which countries do you bring people home from?
From across Europe and beyond. Prices by country are on the Prices page. If your country is not listed, call us. We can bring your loved one home from there too.
Who are you?
XREQUIEM is a funeral home that works across all of Ukraine. We are part of the GRG group of companies (Global Ritual Group). The owner is Oleg Zdendiak. More is on the page About the XREQUIEM funeral home.
Do you work in my city?
Yes. We work across all of Ukraine: farewell, burial, hearse dispatch, transport of the deceased and of relatives, funeral goods. We serve your city at your address and on your date. What it costs to bring the hearse to the venue depends on the address, and we name the amount before departure. And when we bring the body from abroad, delivery to any city in Ukraine is already included in the price. The funeral is a separate service. Its cost is not included in the price of bringing the body home. Ask us during the call and we will tell you what we can take on. More on the page Funeral arrangements. Across Ukraine we do everything ourselves, and one of our coordinators handles your case from start to finish. The cities we deliver to are listed on the page Cities of Ukraine.
Who registers the death of a Ukrainian citizen abroad?
The Ukrainian consul: at the place of death, the last place of residence or the place of burial. Registration and the first certificate are free of consular fees. The consul also issues a certificate that the family in Ukraine can use to apply for the funeral allowance.
We also take the deceased from Ukraine abroad
We also take the deceased from Ukraine abroad
Someone has died in Ukraine and the family wants the burial to be in another country? We collect the deceased from your town in Ukraine and take them there. We take care of the Ukrainian paperwork ourselves, and in the destination country we hand the deceased over to the funeral home the family chooses.
All countries, the Ukrainian paperwork and what the price depends on are on the page “Repatriation of a body from Ukraine to another country”.
Further information on the repatriation of a body from abroad
Someone has died abroad. What now?
Call us straight away, day or night. If the person had insurance, tell us, and we will agree the transport with the insurer ourselves. You do not have to look for a morgue, a translator or a carrier. We will tell you what to do today and what can wait until the morning.
Then we take over. We collect the deceased from the hospital or the morgue, arrange the documents in the country of death and at the Ukrainian consulate, prepare the body for the journey, cross the border and hand the deceased over to the family in Ukraine. Even where the law requires a licensed funeral home, we run the case ourselves. You do not need to find anyone. You always know where your loved one is and what is happening.
We bring people home from all over Europe and beyond: from Poland, Germany, Italy, Czechia, Spain and other countries. If cremation has already taken place, we bring the urn with the ashes home.

How much it costs
The “from” prices are in the country list above. If your country has no price there, we will name it once we have talked. The price covers the whole journey home, until the deceased is handed over to the family in Ukraine. Bringing home an urn with ashes costs from €800 from most countries. The exact amount depends on the city and the documents; we will tell you during the call. A funeral in Ukraine is a separate service.
If the person had insurance, we will check the policy and tell you which costs it covers.
What the price includes
The price includes:
- contact with hospital and morgue
- local, consular, border documents
- preparing the body for travel
- hermetically sealed coffin with a zinc liner for transport
- sealing as the border requires
- transport by road, or part of the way by air, whichever is faster and better value for you
- handover to the family
Coffin of your choice and urn: free of charge.
How long it takes
From neighbouring countries (Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Moldova) we travel by road. From countries further away, part of the journey is by air, and the air leg takes from 2.5 hours. The plane lands at an airport near Ukraine (Warsaw, Rzeszów or Chișinău); from there our vehicle takes the body home.
The body's journey home to Ukraine takes from 24 hours after collection. Most of the time goes on documents in the country of death: each country has its own procedure and its own offices. We will tell you the exact timing once we know the country, the city and which documents are ready.
