Repatriation from Kuwait to Poland
We organise bringing the deceased from Kuwait to Poland: documents from the country of death, Polish permits and transport of the body or urn.
- Issuing authority and document
- Certificate: the Polish Embassy in Kuwait City. The export permit comes from the authorities of the country of death.

- Timing
- The starosta and the consul have up to 3 days for their documents (Article 14(5) of the Act on Cemeteries). We give the full timing once the documents from Kuwait are collected.
- Price
- We will quote the price once we know the details.
Procedure: Kuwait
Poland is not a party to the 1973 Strasbourg Agreement on the Conveyance of Corpses, so bringing a body from Kuwait always requires the Polish consul's certificate.
Documents from Kuwait are authenticated by legalisation if a Polish office asks for it (the country is not a party to the Hague Convention, HCCH, as of 13 October 2026).
Kuwait: an appointment at the embassy and documents from Kuwait
Kuwait has its own Polish post with a consular section. According to the gov.pl page, a visit about the certificate for bringing remains home is arranged by email, and documents can be submitted in person or by post. We tell the family exactly what to send, so there is no second trip to the embassy. In cases from Kuwait we check that names and dates match across the documents, so that the file is consistent when it reaches the embassy.
Kuwait lies on the Arabian Peninsula, so remains or an urn travel to Poland by air, and a body needs a specialised international transport company. On the Polish side the starosta's permit, which the family or an authorised funeral home can apply for, and the consul's certificate are needed. We confirm the detailed requirements of this country's authorities on request, for your case.
The Polish consul's certificate
The certificate is issued by the consul of the mission named on gov.pl: the Polish Embassy in Kuwait City.
How to get them: the starosta's permit and the consul's certificate.
