Repatriation from Jordan to Poland
We organise bringing the deceased from Jordan to Poland: documents from the country of death, Polish permits and transport of the body or urn.
- Issuing authority and document
- Certificate: the Polish consul confirmed in your case. The export permit comes from the authorities of the country of death.
- Transport
- The body is carried by air as air cargo. We agree the arrival airport and the handover point in Poland with the family.
- Timing
- The starosta and the consul have up to 3 days for their documents (Article 14(5) of the Act on Cemeteries). We give the full timing once the documents from Jordan are collected.
- Price
- We will quote the price once we know the details.
Procedure: Jordan
Poland is not a party to the 1973 Strasbourg Agreement on the Conveyance of Corpses, so bringing a body from Jordan always requires the Polish consul's certificate.
Documents from Jordan are authenticated by legalisation if a Polish office asks for it (the country is not a party to the Hague Convention, HCCH, as of 13 October 2026).
Jordan: the embassy in Amman
In Jordan the certificate is issued by a consular office whose contact details point to the Polish Embassy in Amman. A visit can be arranged by email or by telephone, and documents are submitted in person or by post. The consul issues the certificate promptly, within three days of filing at the latest, and it is collected in person or sent by post at the applicant's cost.
Among the documents the page lists the permit from Poland and a copy of the death certificate or another document confirming the death. If the family does not take the deceased to Poland, the consul asks the local authorities to arrange a burial under local law at their expense, but does not decide the method and place of burial for the family. It is therefore wise to settle early what the family wants. We take over contact with the embassy, the collection of documents on the Jordanian side, cooperation with a funeral home and the transport to Poland. We clarify the detailed requirements of this country's authorities on request in your case.
The Polish consul's certificate
The certificate is issued by the Polish consul competent for this country. We confirm the mission in your case.
How to get them: the starosta's permit and the consul's certificate.
