Cambodia is served by the Polish Embassy in Bangkok, whose district also covers Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. A visit to the Consular Section is arranged by email. The embassy's instructions advise that if the deceased was insured, the death should be reported to the insurer, who usually hires a funeral home and organises the transport. If the consul refuses, he issues a decision, against which a complaint can be lodged with the Minister of Foreign Affairs within 7 days, through the consul. The certificate is collected in person or sent by post.

Without insurance, a firm with a local partner is needed to help obtain the death certificate. The embassy requires the original death certificate authenticated by the local foreign ministry and a certificate from a local funeral home on cremation and a closed urn, or on securing the body.
