Repatriation from Bangladesh to Poland
We organise bringing the deceased from Bangladesh to Poland: documents from the country of death, Polish permits and transport of the body or urn.
- Issuing authority and document
- Certificate: the Polish Embassy in New Delhi. The export permit comes from the authorities of the country of death.
- Transport
- The body is carried by air as air cargo. We agree the arrival airport and the handover point in Poland with the family.
- Timing
- The starosta and the consul have up to 3 days for their documents (Article 14(5) of the Act on Cemeteries). We give the full timing once the documents from Bangladesh are collected.
- Price
- We will quote the price once we know the details.
Procedure: Bangladesh
Poland is not a party to the 1973 Strasbourg Agreement on the Conveyance of Corpses, so bringing a body from Bangladesh always requires the Polish consul's certificate.
Documents from Bangladesh are authenticated with an apostille if a Polish office asks for it (the country is a party to the Hague Convention, HCCH, as of 13 October 2026).
From Bangladesh via New Delhi
Consular matters concerning Bangladesh are handled by the Polish Embassy in New Delhi, whose area also covers India, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. An Honorary Consulate General of Poland operates in Dhaka itself. Whether the honorary consul accepts applications for the certificate we establish with the embassy in Delhi.
We prepare the documents so that a complete set reaches the embassy: the permit of the starosta or city president, a copy of the death certificate or other document confirming the death, and a certificate from the sanitary office stating that the death was not caused by an infectious disease and that transport to Poland is permitted. The application can be filed in person or by post, so the family in Bangladesh does not have to travel to India. The certificate can also be collected by post, at the applicant's cost. We check the documents issued in Bangladesh against this requirement before anything is sent.
The Polish consul's certificate
The certificate is issued by the consul of the mission named on gov.pl: the Polish Embassy in New Delhi.
How to get them: the starosta's permit and the consul's certificate.
