Repatriation from Georgia to Poland
We organise bringing the deceased from Georgia to Poland: documents from the country of death, Polish permits and transport of the body or urn.
- Issuing authority and document
- Certificate: the Polish consul confirmed in your case. The export permit comes from the authorities of the country of death.

- The starosta and the consul have up to 3 days for their documents (Article 14(5) of the Act on Cemeteries). We give the full timing once the documents from Georgia are collected.
- Price
- We will quote the price once we know the details.
Procedure: Georgia
Poland is not a party to the 1973 Strasbourg Agreement on the Conveyance of Corpses, so bringing a body from Georgia always requires the Polish consul's certificate.
Documents from Georgia are authenticated with an apostille if a Polish office asks for it (the country is a party to the Hague Convention, HCCH, as of 13 October 2026).
Georgia: Tbilisi and Georgian documents
In Georgia the case is handled by the Polish Embassy in Tbilisi; the visit is arranged by email, and documents can also be sent by post. The death is registered on the Georgian side. On the website of the State Services Development Agency (sda.gov.ge), death registration is listed among the agency's services, and we establish the details of the procedure in your case.
The consul issues the certificate promptly, no later than three days after the application is filed. What is needed is the permit of the starosta or city president and a copy of the death certificate or other document confirming the death. We prepare documents from Georgia so that Polish offices can make use of them. The certificate is collected in person or by post at the applicant's cost. We also handle the transport to Poland and contact with the embassy. We confirm the availability of cremation in Georgia in your case.
The Polish consul's certificate
The certificate is issued by the Polish consul competent for this country. We confirm the mission in your case.
How to get them: the starosta's permit and the consul's certificate.
