Repatriation from Czechia to Moldova
If a loved one has died in Czechia, we help bring them home to the Republic of Moldova, with the documents and the journey arranged for you.

Ashes (urn): from 800 €
Country status under the 1973 Strasbourg Agreement on the Transfer of Corpses: per the Council of Europe list (archived 20.05.2014) and the Netherlands treaty database; checked 11.10.2026.
Procedure
Both Czechia and the Republic of Moldova are parties to the Strasbourg Agreement on the Transfer of Corpses (1973). The body therefore travels with a mortuary passport (laissez-passer) issued in Czechia. Under the agreement, the country of destination may not ask for other documents beyond the laissez-passer and the usual transport documents.
In Czechia, the accompanying document (průvodní list) is issued by the Regional Public Health Authority (krajská hygienická stanice). As a rule, Czech rules require a solid coffin with a zinc lining. The funeral service in Czechia prepares the coffin and the certificates, and we coordinate the rest.
Required documents
Usually needed: the Czech death certificate, the passport of the deceased, the documents of the applicant and the certificates of the funeral service. We check for each document whether an apostille is needed.
Frequently asked questions
Who issues the laissez-passer in Czechia?
The Regional Public Health Authority (krajská hygienická stanice), which issues the accompanying document, průvodní list.
Are the rules different for ashes?
Yes. According to the Czech authorities, urns are not regulated in the same way as bodies. We confirm what the Moldovan side needs for your case.
Do Czech documents need an apostille for Moldova?
According to a 2017 list of the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Czech documents are accepted without legalisation. The list is old, so we check each document.
