Repatriation from St. Lucia to Poland
We organise bringing the deceased from St. Lucia to Poland: documents from the country of death, Polish permits and transport of the body or urn.
- Issuing authority and document
- Certificate: the Polish Embassy in Bogotá. The export permit comes from the authorities of the country of death.
- Transport
- The body is carried by air as air cargo. We agree the arrival airport and the handover point in Poland with the family.
- Timing
- The starosta and the consul have up to 3 days for their documents (Article 14(5) of the Act on Cemeteries). We give the full timing once the documents from St. Lucia are collected.
- Price
- We will quote the price once we know the details.
Procedure: St. Lucia
Poland is not a party to the 1973 Strasbourg Agreement on the Conveyance of Corpses, so bringing a body from St. Lucia always requires the Polish consul's certificate.
Documents from St. Lucia are authenticated with an apostille if a Polish office asks for it (the country is a party to the Hague Convention, HCCH, as of 13 October 2026).
Saint Lucia: the embassy in Bogota
Saint Lucia belongs to the district of the Polish Embassy in Bogota, which also covers Colombia, and Antigua and Barbuda. The visit to the consulate is arranged by email, and the application is submitted in person or by post. The certificate is collected in person or sent by post at the applicant's cost.
The embassy requires two documents: the burial permit from Poland and a copy of the death certificate or another document confirming the death. The same list applies to bodies and ashes. The page describes the procedure of the post in Bogota, not of a separate post in Saint Lucia, so we establish the local requirements of that state separately. We organise contact with the embassy in Colombia, the documents on the local side, cooperation with a local funeral home and the transport of the body or urn to Poland, with a clear split of what is already settled. We clarify the detailed requirements of this country's authorities on request in your case.
The Polish consul's certificate
The certificate is issued by the consul of the mission named on gov.pl: the Polish Embassy in Bogotá.
How to get them: the starosta's permit and the consul's certificate.
