Repatriation from Ecuador to Poland
We organise bringing the deceased from Ecuador to Poland: documents from the country of death, Polish permits and transport of the body or urn.
- Issuing authority and document
- Certificate: the Polish Embassy in Lima. The export permit comes from the authorities of the country of death.

- The body is carried by air as air cargo. We agree the arrival airport and the handover point in Poland with the family.
- Timing
- The starosta and the consul have up to 3 days for their documents (Article 14(5) of the Act on Cemeteries). We give the full timing once the documents from Ecuador are collected.
- Price
- We will quote the price once we know the details.
Procedure: Ecuador
Poland is not a party to the 1973 Strasbourg Agreement on the Conveyance of Corpses, so bringing a body from Ecuador always requires the Polish consul's certificate.
Documents from Ecuador are authenticated with an apostille if a Polish office asks for it (the country is a party to the Hague Convention, HCCH, as of 13 October 2026).
Ecuador: the Registro Civil and the embassy in Lima
A death in Ecuador is registered by the Registro Civil. According to its site, the service covers the death of an Ecuadorian citizen and of a foreigner, and its procedures include ordinary registration of a death that occurred in the country. We check the deadlines and documents in Ecuador with the local funeral home. The family does not need to travel to Peru: the application to the embassy in Lima can be prepared with our help and filed by post.
On the Polish side, Ecuador is handled by the Polish Embassy in Lima, which according to its gov.pl page serves Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia. The country lies across the ocean, so remains or an urn travel by air. Applications to the embassy can be made with our help, and we arrange the starosta's permit in Poland in parallel so no time is lost between steps.
The Polish consul's certificate
The certificate is issued by the consul of the mission named on gov.pl: the Polish Embassy in Lima.
How to get them: the starosta's permit and the consul's certificate.
