Procedure: Guyana

Poland is not a party to the 1973 Strasbourg Agreement on the Conveyance of Corpses, so bringing a body from Guyana always requires the Polish consul's certificate.

Documents from Guyana are authenticated with an apostille if a Polish office asks for it (the country is a party to the Hague Convention, HCCH, as of 13 October 2026).

Guyana: looked after by the embassy in Caracas

The competent Polish post for Guyana is the Embassy of Poland in Caracas. Its district covers ten states: Venezuela, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago. The visit is arranged by email, and documents are submitted in person or by post.

The embassy's procedure lists a copy of the death certificate bearing the apostille stamp. For ashes, a cremation certificate and a funeral home statement that the ashes lie in a sealed, damage-resistant container are also needed. The description comes from the embassy's page in Caracas and is not a separate page for Guyana, so we confirm the scope of documents in your case. We organise the local formalities, contact with the consulate, the preparation of documents and the transport to Poland. We clarify the detailed requirements of this country's authorities on request in your case.

The Polish consul's certificate

The certificate is issued by the consul of the mission named on gov.pl: the Polish Embassy in Caracas.

How to get them: the starosta's permit and the consul's certificate.
