XREQUIEM brings the deceased home from Ireland to Ukraine from €3,500 for the whole journey. We notify the district coroner, deal with the registrar and the Embassy of Ukraine in Dublin, and embalm the body. The coffin goes by air or ferry, then by road to your town. Counting from collection, the road home takes from 24 hours.
“You were always available, whatever the time…” — Віта Х. “Everything was organised with great dignity, professionally and with attention to every detail.” — Тамара Ю. “Every question was resolved promptly, with respect and attention to detail.” — Olha B. “…your support, compassion, sense of responsibility and professionalism meant a great deal to us.” — Ірина Б. “It all went quickly and professionally…” — Оля К. from €3,500 including documents, the coffin and transport to your town. We will give you the exact price within 5 minutes.
The price includes:
What changes the total: the city and distance, the route (road or air), the country’s documents, preparation of the body. More about prices →
Summary. In Ireland the paperwork starts with a doctor: they sign the Death Notification Form, and only then can the registrar record the death. Before the body leaves the State, the coroner of the district must be told, even after a natural death. Because Ireland is an island, the coffin crosses the sea by plane (the air leg takes from 2.5 hours) or by ferry. The funeral in Ukraine is not part of the €3,500 starting price.
If it has just happened
Three Irish offices are involved in almost every case: the doctor who signs the Death Notification Form, the local Registrar of Births, Marriages and Deaths, and the coroner, who has to clear any body leaving the country. We deal with each of them for you and stay with the case until the family in Ukraine receives the deceased. The hospital or the morgue can call us in English.
First we ask which county the deceased is in and whether the coroner has ordered a post-mortem. That shows how the paperwork will go, and you get the price on the same call.
With the Death Notification Form signed by a doctor, the death is registered with the local Registrar of Births, Marriages and Deaths, who issues the certificate. After a post-mortem the coroner arranges the registration.
The coroner for the district where the body lies has to be told before it leaves Ireland. Their certificate usually goes to the funeral director, and it is the paper that lets the authorities release the body for export.
The embassy gives the permit for entry into Ukraine and legalises the Irish certificate about prohibited items. We also tell it how and when the body will travel, and have the Irish papers translated.
Embalming, a hermetic coffin with a metal lining, and sealing of the coffin.
An air leg or a ferry, then the road. We accompany the deceased across the border and hand them over to the family in Ukraine.

In Ireland the coroner must be notified every time a body is taken out of the country, whatever the cause of death. The coroner to contact is the one for the district where the body is. If the coroner has no questions about the cause of death, they issue a certificate that allows the body to be taken out of the country. We obtain this certificate.
A coroner's certificate is also needed when an urn with ashes is taken abroad instead of a body.
Ukrainian citizens in Ireland go to the consular section of the Embassy of Ukraine in Dublin. In a repatriation, it does the following.
The embassy should be told how and when the body will be transported, so that the authorities in Ukraine know in advance. We do this too. Irish documents for the consul must carry an apostille and be translated into Ukrainian. We arrange both the translation and the apostille ourselves, so you do not need to look for a translator. More in the article “The Ukrainian consulate when someone dies abroad”.
From Ireland the deceased can be transported by air or by ferry, and then on by road. We choose the air leg more often: the deceased is flown on a cargo flight from Dublin to an airport near the Ukrainian border, and from there our specialist vehicle takes over. We do not promise direct flights to Ukraine. The ferry route is longer but sometimes more convenient. It depends on the city and on the family's wishes.
We collect the deceased from Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and from any other Irish town: from a hospital, a morgue or from another place where the deceased is. The county where the body lies decides which coroner has to be notified, so please name the town at once.
Timing. If the coroner orders a post-mortem, the death certificate can wait until the cause of death is known, and that is often the longest step. Once the body is collected, the road home takes from 24 hours, with the flight itself from 2.5 hours.
Embalming and the coffin. For transport from Ireland the deceased is embalmed, and we arrange this. The coffin must meet the rules in Ireland. We prepare one that works both under those rules and at the Ukrainian border.

The price includes:
Coffin of your choice and urn: free of charge.
The “from” price covers the whole journey of the deceased home. The route affects the sum most: an air leg or a ferry, followed by a long road journey. The city in Ireland decides which airport or port the deceased is taken to. The city in Ukraine and the choice of coffin also matter. A funeral in Ukraine is a separate service. We will give you the price of both routes when we talk. You can compare with other countries on the Prices page.

From €3,500 for the whole road from the Irish hospital or morgue to your town. What is included is listed above. The final sum depends on the county, on plane or ferry and on your town in Ukraine. We name it during the call.
After collection, the road takes from 24 hours, and the flight from 2.5 hours. Most of the waiting is for papers: the registration, the coroner's certificate and, after a post-mortem, the cause of death. We work on all of them at once and tell you about each step.
In Ireland the coroner is notified every time a body is taken out of the country, whatever the cause of death. It is a required step, not a sign of an investigation. If the coroner has no questions, they issue a certificate for the removal, and we move on.
The passport or identity card of the deceased, if you have it: it is on the Irish list of papers for removal. And your phone number. The rest, from the registration to the embassy permit, we arrange. If an Irish office needs something from the relatives in person, we explain what to do.
Usually not. The body must be formally identified, and often a travel companion or a colleague can do this. In some cases a family member has to come, and we will tell you early. Copies of papers reach you on Viber, WhatsApp or Telegram. What you can do from home is covered in the article “If the family cannot travel abroad”.
Yes. For transport from Ireland the deceased is embalmed. We arrange it, and the embalming certificate is part of the document package. More in the article on the coffin and embalming.
Air is faster: the air leg takes from 2.5 hours. A ferry followed by the road takes longer, but is sometimes more convenient. We will advise what suits your situation and give you the price of both.
Contact the insurer as soon as you can. The Irish State does not pay for repatriation, so travel insurance or private medical cover matters. Send us a photo of the policy and we will check the limits and talk to the insurer. Do not hire a local funeral home before the insurer agrees, or the claim may be refused.
We collect from any city or county in Ireland. The location affects only the road to the airport or the port.
Yes, from €800. Ashes leaving Ireland need the coroner's certificate as well. At the Ukrainian border the urn needs the death certificate and the prohibited items certificate legalised by the Embassy of Ukraine. More on transporting an urn with ashes.
