Repatriation from Monaco to Poland
We organise bringing the deceased from Monaco to Poland: documents from the country of death, Polish permits and transport of the body or urn.
- Issuing authority and document
- Certificate: the Polish Embassy in Paris. The export permit comes from the authorities of the country of death.
- Transport
- By a specialised hearse or by air. We agree the route and the handover point in Poland with the family.
- Timing
- The starosta and the consul have up to 3 days for their documents (Article 14(5) of the Act on Cemeteries). We give the full timing once the documents from Monaco are collected.
- Price
- We will quote the price once we know the details.
Procedure: Monaco
Poland is not a party to the 1973 Strasbourg Agreement on the Conveyance of Corpses, so bringing a body from Monaco always requires the Polish consul's certificate.
Documents from Monaco are authenticated with an apostille if a Polish office asks for it (the country is a party to the Hague Convention, HCCH, as of 13 October 2026).
Monaco: the case is handled by the embassy in Paris
Monaco falls within the territorial competence of the Polish Embassy in Paris. The Minister of Foreign Affairs assigned it to that district in 2007, and consular relations between Poland and Monaco were established in 2004. We settle the formalities of returning remains from Monaco with the embassy in Paris in your case.
The order of steps is simple. The death is reported to the local civil registry and the death document is collected. In Poland the family or a funeral home applies for the burial permit, then the consul issues the certificate, and finally the body or urn is transported. We guide the family through each of these stages and tell them as we go which document is ready and which is still missing. We clarify the detailed requirements of this country's authorities on request in your case.
The Polish consul's certificate
The certificate is issued by the consul of the mission named on gov.pl: the Polish Embassy in Paris.
How to get them: the starosta's permit and the consul's certificate.
