Procedure: Solomon Islands
Poland is not a party to the 1973 Strasbourg Agreement on the Conveyance of Corpses, so bringing a body from the Solomon Islands always requires the Polish consul's certificate.
Documents from the Solomon Islands are authenticated by legalisation if a Polish office asks for it (the country is not a party to the Hague Convention, HCCH, as of 13 October 2026).
Solomon Islands: the Consulate General in Sydney
The Solomon Islands belong to the district of the Polish Consulate General in Sydney, so the starosta's permit and the certificate application go there, filed in person or by post after booking a visit in e-Konsulat. The islands are not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so the copy of the death record the consulate requires is authenticated by legalisation.
For an urn, a cremation certificate and a funeral home statement about a sealed, damage-resistant container are also needed. We arrange the local death document in the Solomon Islands, its legalisation and the remaining papers, as well as contact with Sydney. Once the documents are ready, we take on the preparation of the remains and the transport to Poland, together with collection on arrival and the funeral ceremony the family plans. We clarify the detailed requirements of this country's authorities on request in your case.
The Polish consul's certificate
The certificate is issued by the consul of the mission named on gov.pl: the Polish Consulate General in Sydney.
How to get them: the starosta's permit and the consul's certificate.
