Repatriation from Micronesia to Poland

Procedure: Micronesia
Poland is not a party to the 1973 Strasbourg Agreement on the Conveyance of Corpses, so bringing a body from Micronesia always requires the Polish consul's certificate.
Documents from Micronesia are authenticated by legalisation if a Polish office asks for it (the country is not a party to the Hague Convention, HCCH, as of 13 October 2026).
Micronesia: Manila and three other Pacific states
Micronesia lies in the western Pacific and has no Polish post. According to the gov.pl page, the Polish Embassy in Manila has territorial jurisdiction over the Philippines, Micronesia, Palau and the Marshall Islands. Families from four countries therefore use the same embassy, which is worth knowing when planning dates. We do not assume that all islands have the same connections, and plan the route separately for each case.
The archipelago is spread over many islands, so after a death it matters to establish which island the body is on and where flights depart from. Remains or an urn travel by air, with connections agreed with the carrier. On the Polish side the starosta's permit and the consul's certificate are needed.
